Global Day of Prayer & Fasting: 5 August 2024

This month, we introduce you to a prayer initiative out of Youth for Christ Botswana: Prayer Force.

Ember Liddiard captured a vision for this initiative after reading about the role of the Royal Air Force (RAF) in the second World War to help secure victory for the British and her allies. Listen and learn from this faithful servant of the Lord.

Your sister in Christ,

Lyndal Walker

International Prayer Director

P.S. If you would like to find out more about the history of this initiative you can read the blog Ember mentions here. And for any questions reach out to [email protected].

Some suggestions for this month’s Global Day of Prayer and Fasting

  • Praise the Lord with a Psalm. You may like to join in with singing Psalm 96.
  • Watch the video of Ember. Consider the purpose of Prayer Force: a) To mobilise prayer intercession for the nation, b) To provide encouragement and accountability for prayer intercession, c) To foster camaraderie and community in prayer, d) To foster unity in the Body of Christ, e) To shape history through united prayer.
  • Reflect: What stood out to you in the video? Write it down or discuss it with your team.
  • Read Daniel 10:1-14. Daniel humbled himself before the Lord in prayer and fasting. As a result, the heavenly realm was activated to bring about the answer.
  • Reflect: How does this story impact you?
  • Read Ezekiel 22:30.
  • Reflect: How can you “stand in the gap” for your nation? Who can you invite to join you in standing in the gap? Perhaps you can research prayer initiatives in your own nation that are praying for revival, and join one of them.
  • Reflect: Ember talked about being in a squadron – small group for prayer. Who are you in a “squadron” with? I.e. who do you pray with and for on a regular basis? If you don’t have anyone to pray with, ask the Lord if He would like you to reach out to someone to ask them.
  • Continue to pray for the lost youth in your area. Perhaps this month you could ask a couple of people to stop and pray at 9pm every night with you (or whatever time suits you) for a lost young person that you are praying for. You don’t have to pray together, but you could keep each other accountable by sending messages or creating a group on a messaging app.
  • Continue to pray to the Lord of the harvest for more harvest workers. What volunteer needs do you have in your own ministry at the moment? Seek the Lord as to how you may mobilise more volunteers in your area of ministry.
