Dear Youth for Christ family,
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. (1 Timothy 2:1-6, bold added)
This month, we are taking a break from our ePray series to focus our prayers on the United States Presidential Election, scheduled for November 5. You are receiving this email earlier than usual so you can join in praying before the day of prayer and fasting, which is on November 4.
To clarify, I am not encouraging you to pray for a particular election outcome but for the processes and the people involved. “Why focus on this specific election and not others?” you may ask. Firstly, the United States is the nation that birthed Youth for Christ, and it is where our International Office is located. Secondly, the United States is a major player in world affairs, and what happens in the USA greatly impacts what happens in other nations. This, of course, has a significant impact on the young people that we serve. |
