ONE MINUTE – EVERY DAY – PRAY
“This year, this minute – pray for lost young people”
• “Lord, Open their eyes.”
I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me (Acts 26:17-18).
“Though this is all the work of the Spirit, by whom only the eyes of the understanding are enlightened; yet this is ascribed to the apostle, not as the efficient cause, but as the instrument and means through preaching of the Gospel, which the Spirit of God would, and did make use of.” (Acts 26:17-18 – John Gill’s Exposition of the Bible)
Other “Open Eyes” verse:
to open eyes that are blind (Isaiah 42:7).
an exercise in hope
“While I breathe, I hope”
And being absolutely certain that whatever promise He is bound by, He is able to make good (Romans 4:20).
We are told that Abraham could look at his own body and consider it as good as dead without being discouraged, because he was not looking at himself but at the Almighty One.
He did not stagger at the promise, but stood straight up and instead of growing weak he waxed strong in the faith, grew more robust, glorifying God through His very sufficiency and being “fully persuaded” (as the Greek expresses it) “that he who had promised was,” not merely able, but as it literally means abundantly able, munificently able, able with an infinite surplus of resources, infinitely able “to perform.” – A. B. Simpson
What God had promised, though it was long in coming and many difficulties in the way, Abraham was absolutely certain that the God of the promise was able to make good on His promise.
I leave you with just a few of these guarantees:
The Father’s continued presence wherever we go
“The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” —Deuteronomy 31:8
A constant Helper through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever.” —John 14:16
The Lord’s strength in whatever difficulty we face
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” —Isaiah 41:10
An answer to our prayers
“This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.” —1 John 5:14-15
The Father’s daily help with our burdens.
“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, the God who is our salvation.” —Psalm 68:19
God’s comfort in our distress
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” —2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (Precious Promises by Charles Stanley)
FOCUSED PRAYER FOR LEADERSHIP

Meditate (to reflect on)
Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.

Lord, give us leaders that would be known by their Christian liberty yet taking heed of using it so not to bring offence to a weak brother such that it would be to Your glory.

RE: Wim van Galen, Interim National Director for YFC The Netherlands, son Daan’s medical update. (Daan was diagnosed with a severe brain illness.)
“Daan came home this week from the hospital. He had a MRI scan on Monday and things are getting better. Still vulnerable, but getting better and he is getting more and more himself. Good news! Thank you for all your prayers, God has been taking care of him for sure.”
